Enterokinase is a serine protease, it is specific to cleave the fusion proteins to release the aim protein through the recognition sequence, (asp)4lys. So it is broadly to apply into product development of gene engineering. It can identify & cleave the substrate which contains the cleavage site of enterokinase, for this, it can be used as a restriction cleavage site for processing recombinant proteins. It also can be used into the research area of the biology medicine, gene recombinant, biochemistry & molecular biology.
However the source of natural enterokinase is limited, the enterokinase derived from organ of animal always be contaminated by other protease, the high purity of enterokinase which made from gene recombinant solved the problem.
